Proverbs 3:13-18 (NIV)

Blessed are those who find wisdom,

those who gain understanding,

for she is more profitable than silver

and yieds better returns than gold.

She is more precious than rubies;

noting you desire can compare with her.

Long life is in her right hand;

in her left hand are riches and honor.

Her ways are pleasant ways,

and all her paths are peace.

She is a tree of life to those who

take hold of her;

those who hold her fast will be blessed.

How to gain wisdom...

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5 (NIV)

...call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding ... For the Lord gives wisdom; and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding...

Proverbs 2:3-6

PHENOMINAL WOMAN by Maya Angelou

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.

I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size

But when I start to tell them,

They think I'm telling lies. I say,

It's in the reach of my arms

The span of my hips,

The stride of my step,

The curl of my lips. I'm a woman

Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman,

That's me.

I walk into a room

Just as cool as you please, And to a man,

The fellows stand or

Fall down on their knees.

Then they swarm around me,

A hive of honey bees.

I say,

It's the fire in my eyes,

And the flash of my teeth,

The swing in my waist,

And the joy in my feet.

I'm a woman

Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,

That's me.

Men themselves have wondered

What they see in me.

They try so much

But they can't touch

My inner mystery.

When I try to show them

They say they still can't see.

I say,

It's in the arch of my back,

The sun of my smile,

The ride of my breasts,

The grace of my style.

I'm a woman

Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,

That's me.

Now you understand

Just why my head's not bowed.

I don't shout or jump about

Or have to talk real loud.

When you see me passing

It ought to make you proud.

I say,

It's in the click of my heels,

The bend of my hair,

The palm of my hand,

The need for my care,

'Cause I'm a woman

Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman, That's me.

"A Virtuous Woman serves God with all of her heart, mind, and soul. She seeks His will for her life and follows His ways."

Proverbs 31: 10-31 (kjv)

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price

is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her,

so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13 She seeketh wool, and flax,

and worketh willingly with her hands.

14 She is like the merchants' ships;

she bringeth her food from afar.

15 She riseth also while it is yet night,

and giveth meat to her household,

and a portion to her maidens.

16 She considereth a field,

and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands

she planteth a vineyard.

17 She girdeth her loins with strength,

and strengtheneth her arms.

18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good:

her candle goeth not out by night.

19 She layeth her hands to the spindle,

and her hands hold the distaff.

20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor;

yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household:

for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry;

her clothing is silk and purple.

23 Her husband is known in the gates,

when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it;

and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

25 Strength and honour are her clothing;

and she shall rejoice in time to come.

26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom;

and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 She looketh well to the ways of her household,

and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed;

her husband also, and he praiseth her.

29 Many daughters have done virtuously,

but thou excellest them all.

30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain:

but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands;

and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Wisdom is...

Experience, understanding or common sense; good judgment; the ability to learn from change.

Wisdom Definition

To know what you know and to know what you don't know.

Confucius

Knowing you know nothing.

Socrates

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of holy is understanding.

Proverbs 9:10

Reminder:  I am A Woman Kept by God...

1 Peter 1:3-5

  3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Heaven's Grocery Store

Marching down life’s highway, my feet became very sore.  I then came upon a sign that read “Heaven’s Grocery Store.”  When I got closer, the doors swung open wide.  Next thing I knew I was standing there inside.   I saw a flock of angels positioned everywhere.  They handed me a basket and said, “Child, shop with care.”   Everything a human required was in that grocery store.  With many commodities to carry, you could always come back for more.  First I acquired some Patience; Love was in that same row.  Further down was Understanding, you require that everywhere you go.  I grabbed a box of Wisdom and Faith, a bag or two; And obtained Charity of course but more than just a few.  And then I reached for Courage to help me run this wicked race.  My basket was almost full but I remembered some loving Grace.  I then chose Salvation for it was advertised as free.  I tried to collect enough of that for both you and me.  Then I started to the counter to pay my grocery bill; For I thought I had everything to do the Master’s will.  As I went up the aisle, I saw Prayer and proceeded put that in. For I knew when I stepped outside I was bound to encounter sin.  Peace and Joy were plentiful, the last thing on that shelf.  Song and Praise were hanging near, so I just helped myself.  Then I asked an angel, “Now how much do I owe?” She smiled and said, “Just take them wherever you may go.”   Again I asked, “No really, how much do I owe?”  “My child,” she said, “God paid your bill a long time ago.”

ANYWAYS... (The Final Analysis)

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.

Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.

Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.

Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.

Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.

Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.

Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten.

Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.

Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.

It was never between you and them anyway.

SERENITY PRAYER

GOD grant me the Serenity to

accept the thngs I cannot change,

Courage to change the things I can,

and the Wisdom to know the difference.

"When I say I am a Christian"

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I’m not shouting, “I’ve been saved!”

I’m whispering, “I get lost! That’s why I chose this way”

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I don’t speak with human pride

I’m confessing that I stumble — needing God to be my guide

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I’m not trying to be strong

I’m professing that I’m weak and pray for strength to carry on

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I’m not bragging of success

I’m admitting that I’ve failed and cannot ever pay the debt

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I don’t think I know it all

I submit to my confusion asking humbly to be taught

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I’m not claiming to be perfect

My flaws are far too visible but God believes I’m worth it

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I still feel the sting of pain

I have my share of heartache which is why I seek His name

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I do not wish to judge

I have no authority — I only know I’m loved

For Every Season (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)

"wisdom recognizes that everything in life has its own season"

1 For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.

2 A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest.

3 A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build.

4 A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance.

5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to refrain.

6 A time to search and a time to give up. A time to keep and a time to throw away.

7 A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be silent and a time to speak.

8 A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace.

There is a time for everything. And a season for every activity under Heaven.

Everything I Need To Know I Learned in Kindergarten

Share everything.

Play fair. Don't hit people.

Put things back where you found them.

Clean up your own mess.

Don't take things that aren't yours.

Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.

Wash your hands before you eat.

Flush.

Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.

Live a balanced life -

Learn some and think some

And draw and paint and sing and dance

And play and work everyday some.

Take a nap every afternoon.

When you go out into the world, Watch out for traffic, Hold hands and stick together.

Be aware of wonder.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.  If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.  If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

1Corinthians 13

Love is patient,

Love is kind.

It does not envy,

it does not boast,

it is not proud.

It is not rude,

it is not self-seeking,

it is not easily angered,

it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects,

always trusts,

always hopes,

always perseveres.

Love never fails.

How to Live Life

What is life?

LIFE IS A CHALLENGE.

MEET IT.

LIFE IS A GIFT.

ACCEPT IT.

LIFE IS AN ADVENTURE.

DARE IT.

LIFE IS A SORROW.

OVERCOME IT.

LIFE IS A TRAGEDY.

FACE IT.

LIFE IS A DUTY.

PERFORM IT.

LIFE IS A GAME.

PLAY IT.

LIFE IS A MYSTERY.

UNFOLD IT.

LIFE IS A SONG.

SING IT.

LIFE IS AN OPPORTUNITY.

TAKE IT.

LIFE IS A JOURNEY.

COMPLETE IT.

LIFE IS A PROMISE.

FULFILL IT.

LIFE IS A BEAUTY.

PRAISE IT.

LIFE IS A STRUGGLE.

FIGHT IT.

LIFE IS A GOAL

ACHIEVE IT.

LIFE IS A PUZZLE.

SOLVE IT.

LIFE IS LOVE.

LOVE IT.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit...

Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is strange with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns...

And many a fellow turns about,

When he might have won had he stuck it out.

Don't give up though the pace seems slow,

You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than

It seems to a faint and faltering man;

Often the struggler has given up -

When he might have captured the victor's cup,

And he learned too late when the night came down,

How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -

The silver tint in the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are,

It might be near when it seems afar;

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,

It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Footprints

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied: "My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

God said, “No”

I asked God to take away my pride, and God said "NO". He said it was not for Him to take away, but for me to give up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole, and God said "NO". He said her spirit is whole, her body is only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience, and God said "NO". He said that patience is a by-product of tribulation, it isn't granted, it's earned.

I asked God to give me happiness, and God said "NO". He said He gives blessings, happiness is up to me.

I asked God to spare me pain, and God said "NO". He said suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow, and He said "NO". He said I must grow on my own, but He will prune me to make me fruitful.

I asked God to help me love others as much as He loves me, And God said "Ah, finally you have the idea"!

I wish you enough...

... a reminder of life’s perfect balances

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.

I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.

Hebrews 12 (the voice) [excerpt on God's discipline]

"The Bible is a brutally honest book. It contains stories of liars, murderers, and adulterers; and these are the good guys. If we read the Bible looking only for positive role models, we’ll be quickly disappointed. But if we are honest with ourselves and confess our own faults, we will find in Scripture, particularly in the First Testament, that we have much in common with many broken saints of the past. But we must not stay broken. We must follow their path to transformation through repentance and faith. Repentance means a change of heart, a change of mind, and ultimately a change of how we live. God’s grace comes to us and enables us to turn away from sin and to turn back to Him."

Children Learn What They Live

If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.

If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.

If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.

If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.

If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.

If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.

If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.

If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.

If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.

If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.

If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.

If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.

If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.

If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.

If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.

If children live with fairness, they learn justice.

If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.

If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.

If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.

The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13 (Amplified)

Jesus said:

"Pray, therefore, like this: Our Father Who is in heaven, hallowed (kept holy) be Your name.

Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven (left, remitted, and let go of the debts, and have given up resentment against) our debtors.

And lead (bring) us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

Jehovah-Raah: the Lord my Shepherd

The Lord provides.  He leads me to places that are good for me, especially when I go astray.  He  makes sure I avoid troubled waters.  He makes me come alive; clean and new for eternity.  He corrects me when I go down the wrong path.  He protects me.  I am safe; comforted by Him.  He defends me against my enemies.  I will stay with Him always and forever.  He will never leave me.

Psalm 23 - [adapted from the new revised standard version]

The Divine Shepherd - A Psalm of David.

1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters;["waters of rest"]

3 he restores my soul [life]. He leads me in right paths[paths of righteousness] for his name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, [the valley of the shadow of death] I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff— they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6 Surely [Only] goodness and mercy [kindness] shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long ["length of days"].

The Beatitudes

Matthew 5:3-10

Blessed are the poor in spirit;

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn;

for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek;

for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger

  and thirst after righteousness;

for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful;

for they shall be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart;

for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers;

for they will be called the sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness;

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:11-12

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Healthy people don’t need a doctor, sick people do...

Matthew 9:12-13 (paraphrased); Go and learn the meaning of this scripture.  I want you to show mercy not offer sacrifices.  For I have come to call on not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.

? Perfect ?

LEADERSHIP from Paul

Identification: Paul Identifies with the Struggles of His Listeners...

Paul identifies with the struggles of common men and women.  He knows we all can feel trapped (Rom 7:14); confused (7:15); eager to do what is right (7:18); unable to follow through (7:18); an inward war (7:21-23); and frustration (7:24).  Good leaders do not seek to impress, but to identify.

Romans 7:14-25

the Maxwell Leadership Bible

Scripture does not support that God helps those who help themselves because God helps those who come to Him and ask for His help; those who are obedient to His commands; those who accept His love.

Love.  Joy.  Peace.  Patience.  Kindness.  Goodness.  Faithfulness.  Gentleness.  Self-control.

Against such things there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23)

I do not know what the future holds but I know who holds the future

your heavenly Father knows what you need...

...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself...

[Matthew 6:25-34]

The U in Jesus

Before U were thought of or time had begun -

God stuck “U” in the name of His Son.

And each time U pray, U will see it is true -

U cannot spell out JesUs and not include U.

U are a pretty big part of His wonderful name,

For U, He was born; that's why He came.

And His great love for U, is the reason He died;

It even takes U to spell "crUcified".

Isn't it thrilling and splendidly grand?

He rose from the dead, with U in His plan.

The stone split away, the gold trUmpet blew,

And this word "resUrrection" is spelled with a U.

When JesUs left earth at His upward ascension.

He felt there was one thing He just had to mention:

“Go into the world and tell them it's true,

That I love them all - just like I love U."

So many great people are spelled with a U.

It all depends now on what U will do...

He'd like them to know;

but it all starts with U!

JesUs and U!!!

Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good (Rom 12:9)

Whatever is true

Whatever is noble

Whatever is right

Whatever is pure

Whatever is lovely

Whatever is admirable

If anything is excellent or praisworthy,

think about such things and the God of peace will be with you (Phil 4:8)

There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him:  haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.  PROV 6:16-19
